weekend split on the road in Cape Breton. The Stangs fell 4-1 Sunday to the Cape Breton Tradesman. Connor Hirtle scored the lone goal for the South Shore, who fell to 9-15-1-1 and sit in 6th place in the NS Major Midget standings. The Mustangs started the road swing with a 5-2 win over the West Islanders Saturday night. The next game for the Mustangs will be on the road Saturday night in Kentville against the Valley Wildcats. ---------------------------------- The CIBC Woodgundy Lumberjacks dropped their second in a row Sunday, a 4-3 decision to the Yarmouth Mariners. Jake Bullen, Mike Snow and Kris Faric scored for the Jacks, who sit at five-hundred this season with a 14-14-0-2 record through 30 games. The Jacks still sit in fourth place in the Bent division standings, one point ahead of the Truro Bearcats. Travis Hall made 22 saves in the loss. The Lumberjacks are back on the ice Friday night, when they host the Campbellton Tigers at the Bridgewater Memorial Arena. ---------------------------------- The Bridgewater girls division 2 volleyball team captured their fourth straight provincial title this weekend. The Vikings defeated Par-en-Bas in the final 16-25, 25-16, 15-4. Elsewhere, the New Germany girls division 3 squad took bronze after winning the consolation final in straight sets over Dalbrae. The Bridgewater division 3 boys club finished in fourth place, suffering a straight sets loss to Dalbrae in the bronze medal match. And finally, the Parkview Panthers went winless in division 1 boys play, finishing in a disappointing eighth place. The BMO Western Hurricanes Major Bantam Hockey Club continued their winning ways this past
weekend with two road wins. The first coming on Saturday against the Halifax Major Bantam Hawks, where Keegan Cooke scored with 8 seconds remaining to give the Hurricanes a 3 -2 win. Jacob Wile was solid in nets to get the win. On Sunday, the Hurricanes visited the Newbridge Academy Senators and with a dominating performance, the Hurricanes left metro with a 3- 0 shutout win by Corey Peterson. The BMO Hurricanes hold a solid first place standing in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League with a record of 18 wins and 2 loses. .
A Youth Bowling team from Bowl More Lanes in Bridgewater returned home from a week-end tournament in Musquodoboit with a first place finish in a field of thirteen teams. Captain Leslie Himmelman and team-mates Jason Allen, Brandon Milbury, Dylan Conrad, and Cayden Henderson finished 45 pins ahead of the silver medal team. Leslie also captured the medal for High No Mark in the Senior Girls category. Bridgewater's Bailey Mulock bowled the most pins over his average with a plus 21.6.
